Vacuum Breaker Repair Kit

The repair kit for Legend brand, T-550 and Improved Flow T-550A anti-siphon frost free sillcocks includes replacement vacuum breaker parts. These parts are used on 4", 6", 8", 10", 12" And 14" T550 and T550A sizes to prevent water from siphoning back into the potable water supply (backflow).

The kit consists of 1 stainless steel cap, 1 body (larger plastic piece with rubber o-ring), and 1 piston (smaller plastic piece). The body measurements are as follows: The top (wider) diameter is 1.25" (1 1/4") and the bottom (narrower) diameter is .875" (7/8"). The threads are specific to Legend brand and will not fit other sillcock brands.

To identify your sillcock brand, size, and model number, look for markings on the top of the wheel handle. For Legend brand, the size and model number will be visible there.

To determine if your outdoor faucet is frost-free, check if the knob is perpendicular to the house. If it is, the faucet is frost-free, as the knob turns a long stem that closes a valve inside the house where it is warm. If the knob is at a 45-degree angle, it is not frost-free. Note that if your current vacuum breaker has a black cover, this replacement part will not fit.

When assembling the replacement parts, place the flat end of the piston inside the smaller diameter end of the body with the prongs/teeth facing outward/downward. Make sure the prongs/teeth are facing downward towards the valve as you install the body back into the sillcock valve. Check the alignment before tightening and use a wrench to securely tighten the stainless steel cap in place to prevent leaking.
